Intel gets ready H55 chipsets for launch in Jan 2010

Posted on 30 November 2009 by

Intel gets ready for Intel H55 and Core i3/i5 processors with integrated graphics In Jan 2010, Intel will have another Intel chipset and processor to take on the AMD camp. The chipset Intel H55 will support the LGA1156 Core i3/i5 processor. These new processors comes with integrated memory controller and it is also equipped with a graphics processor built into the chip. Although these processors can run on Intel P55 chipset, P55 boards don’t provide the physical layout for video output. For the system to run with graphics capability, the CPU must be paired with boards powered by Intel H55 chipset. As it is just one month from now, manufacturers are rushing their final tests to ensure everything is ready to launch in January 2010. Stay tuned for more news about the upcoming chipset and boards at OCWORKBENCH.

ASUS P55-based Maximus III Extreme Supports Wireless Overclocking via Bluetooth Mobile Phones

Posted on 30 November 2009 by

ASUS ROG Motherboard with Breakthrough Overclocking Interface Wows DreamHack Winter Attendees
P55-based Maximus III Extreme Supports Wireless Overclocking
via Bluetooth Mobile Phones

Attendees of DreamHack Winter from November 26–29, 2009 are set to witness a milestone in overclocking history. ASUS will be debuting the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Maximus III Extreme, a bleeding-edge, P55-based motherboard that enables users to tweak system settings wirelessly over Bluetooth via a mobile phone. An extension of ASUS’ proprietary ROG Connect overclocking platform, RC Bluetooth will reshape how enthusiasts approach the art of overclocking.

New and Improved ROG Connect: Extended Functionality for Greater Convenience and Peace of Mind
The four-way CrossFire-capable Maximus III Extreme is a top-end addition to ROG’s celebrated Maximus III Series of motherboards. True to its ROG heritage, it sports a host of features tailored to overclocking enthusiasts and gamers. The foremost of these is ROG Connect, which was first introduced with the Maximus III Formula and Maximus III GENE. ROG Connect is an exclusive overclocking interface that enables users to monitor and tune their main systems through a notebook or netbook via USB, just like a race car engineer. The version released with Maximus III Extreme will extend ROG Connect’s functionality, adding BIOS updating and recovery, diagram viewing, and on-the-fly hardware-level voltage and frequency adjustment. BIOS updating from a notebook is a particularly welcome feature for overclockers, who will no longer have to fear bricking their motherboards due to a corrupt BIOS.

RC Bluetooth: Smashing through the Barriers of Conventional Overclocking
Perhaps the most innovative addition to ROG Connect, however, is RC Bluetooth, a feature which allows users to review the status of their systems’ hardware and tweak parameters wirelessly from a Bluetooth-enabled PDA phone. RC Bluetooth is also capable of performing standard Bluetooth functions, such as stereo music playback, Skype messaging, Internet access via a Bluetooth phone, and mobile phone or PDA synchronization. All it requires is the press of a button located on the rear I/O panel to toggle between overclocking and standard modes.

All Set to Astound Attendees of DreamHack Winter
The ROG Maximus III Extreme will make its first appearance at DreamHack Winter, the world’s largest LAN/eSports event, and a mainstay of hardware enthusiasts. The overclocking prowess of the ROG Maximus III Extreme will also be showcased at an overclocking competition to be held during the event. On November 27 and 28, 2009, the world’s best overclockers will use the ROG Maximus III Extreme to vie for the overclocking championship.

ASUS Launches the World’s First Notebook Utilizing NVIDIA® 3D Vision for Truly Immersive Gaming

[Singapore, 30 Nov 09] As the first notebook capable of producing realistic 3D visuals in games and videos, the new ASUS G51J 3D is designed to deliver a truly immersive gaming and multimedia experience to gamers everywhere. Equipped with NVIDIA® 3D Vision™ and bundled with specially designed 3D glasses, the ASUS G51J 3D—which sports an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M with 1GB DDR3 video memory—delivers adrenaline-pumping, edge-of-your-seat visuals anytime, anywhere. EAX and CMSS audio technology further enhances in-game immersion, delivering crystal clear sound and compelling environment audio effects through bespoke Altec Lansing® speakers. Powered by an Intel® Core™ i7 processor and 64-bit Windows® 7 operating system, the ASUS G51J 3D is the weapon of choice for discerning gamers who enjoy gaming-on-the-move.

Immersive Gaming: Bridging the Gap between the Virtual and Reality
Equipped with NVIDIA® 3D Vision™, the ASUS G51J 3D delivers ultra-realistic graphics that come to life before the user. A pair of 3D Vision™ active-shutter glasses coupled with a wide-range infra-red emitter delivers stereoscopic images with clarity, brightness and depth-of-field (DOP) at full resolution without any viewing angle restrictions. The GPU driver and a 120Hz 3D panel render each scene twice, delivering up to 60 images evenly to each eye, amounting to a total of up to 120 images at any given time. Gamers can experience total immersion into their games from what were previously flat 2D worlds, to true-to-life 3D. With up to 400 PC games that work out-of-the-box with 3D Vision, gamers can experience a whole new dimension of gaming never-before seen, with recently released games such as Resident Evil® 5, Borderlands™, World of Warcraft®: Wrath of the Lich King™, Batman®: Arkham Asylum™ and Star Trek® D-A-C.

“NVIDIA® is excited about the world’s first 3D Vision notebook coming from ASUS,” said Phil Eisler, General Manager of 3D Vision business unit at NVIDIA®. “The ASUS G51J 3D notebook will set the standard by which gaming and 3D notebooks will be judged. Congratulations to ASUS for achieving this monumental milestone!”

Complementing the immersive visual effects is EAX Advanced HD 4.0 3D audio technology and CMSS surround sound. EAX Advanced HD 4.0 audio technology enhances in-game environments and scenarios by providing corresponding three dimensional sound effects. It can provide up to 64 additional sound effects from its sound library, and produces ultra-realistic spatial effects for more than 300 supported games. Together with high fidelity Altec Lansing® speakers, the ASUS G51J 3D delivers a gaming and multimedia audio experience that no other notebook can match.

A Juggernaut of Power: Multitasking and Gaming Performance
Powered by the latest Intel® Core™ i7 processor for multitasking muscle on-the-move, the ASUS G51J 3D features four dedicated physical cores working in tandem with the operating system and applications for additional performance. It allows users to utilize and launch multiple applications, and to enjoy high definition multimedia and processor-intensive games effortlessly.

The main area of concern for any self-respecting gamer when it comes to a gaming notebook is graphics, and the ASUS G51J 3D is designed specifically to meet or exceed their expectations. ASUS’ engineers have cleverly circumvented the thermal and placement issues that typically arise from fitting an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M into a 15.6-inch notebook. With 1GB DDR3 video memory onboard, the ASUS G51J 3D attained a 3DMark®06 score of well over 11,000*, a significant leap from other 15-inch to 16-inch notebooks in the market today.

Sony Ericsson halts sales of Satio in UK

Posted on 25 November 2009 by

Sony Ericsson has suffered a setback as retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U have stopped sales after news of Satio suffered from a software bug.

This phone was launched with much fanfare last month. In fact, we are almost ready to post our own review of this 12 megapixel camera phone. We had no issues with our set so far.

To date, it seems that the UK versions seem to have a weird issue. The phone apparently crashes when switching between applications while some customers have complained that it can suddenly lose all of its ringtones. Customers have complained that they have to remove the battery to get the phone to switch back on. Sony Ericsson says it is working on a solution to the problem which it hopes to make available on its website as soon as it is ready.

According to some reports, this is all due to Sony Ericssons’s own skin on top of the symbian OS. UK Orange and vodafone doesn’t seem to have any issues as it uses their own custom skins on top of the aging symbian OS.

Pricing of Clarkdale support Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processors leaked on net

Posted on 24 November 2009 by

Intel plans to release its first 32 nm processors for desktops, codenamed Clarkdale, only in January 2010. However, these exciting dual core already appeared in the trade lists a German online store, so far only in the form of pre-order.

All six new 32 nm chips Clarkdale implemented as the structural LGA 1156, equipped with integrated video core 45-nm technology to support DirectX 10 and includes a line of Core i3 and Core i5. In addition, the Hyper-Threading is chips are capable of implementing up to 4 simultaneous processing threads, and model Core i5, among other things, support the technology Turbo Boost.

New chips Clarkdale also got a 4 mb cache in the third level and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller 1333, and their clock speeds ranging from 2.93 GHz Core i3 from 530 to 3,46 GHz – a model of Core i5 670. Accordingly vary and the cost of new processors – from 103.90 to 252.90 euros.

Indicator TDP of these chips is 73 watts with the exception of Core i5 Model 661, in which the figure is 87 watts. Incidentally, the data plate in front of the CPU, probably a mistake crept in the price. Since the built-in GPU he has a very high frequency (900 MHz) of the presented models, the cost of the chip, most likely, is about 200 euros.
