Transcend Unveils 64GB Class 10 SDXC Card

Transcend Information, Inc. (Transcend ), a worldwide leader in memory and storage products, today announced the company’s first 64GB Class 10 SDXC memory cards. Featuring an unprecedented amount of storage capacity and ultra fast transfer rates up to 25 MB/s, Transcend’s new Ultimate SDXC cards are perfect for consumers in need of extended HD video recording time and improved camera performance for high-resolution digital photography.

SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) is the next-generation standard for SD cards established by the Secure Digital Association (SDA). With supported capacities ranging from 32GB up to 2TB, SDXC offers vastly greater storage potential compared to the SDHC standard, which only supports capacities up to 32GB. A 64GB SDXC card is capable of storing a maximum of 26208 pictures (based on 5 megapixel JPEG compression format), 352 hours of standard quality video (MPEG-4 video at 384 Kbps), or 640 minutes of 1920×1080 videos. Thanks to its use of the exFAT file system that supports files larger than 4GB, Transcend’s SDXC cards feature astonishingly high storage capacity, making them the ideal complement to today’s high-end SDXC-compatible DSLR cameras and HD camcorders.

Fully Class 10 compliant, Transcend Ultimate SDXC cards boast read speeds up to 25 MB/s. This exceptional data transfer performance not only prevents lag when recording 1920×1080 Full HD videos, but also enables high-speed consecutive shooting at sporting or other fast-motion events. As more and more consumer electronic products such as HDTVs, Blu-ray players, mobile phones and GPS are expected to support SDXC in the near future, widespread adoption of SDXC is just around the corner.

For further peace of mind, the new SDXC cards are comprehensively tested for compatibility and reliability, and carry Transcend’s renowned Lifetime Warranty. In addition to the 64GB Class 10 SDXC Cards, Transcend also offers a complete line of Ultimate series Class 10 SDHC Cards, which deliver transfer speeds of up to 20MB/s and are available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities.

Samsung Galaxy S Video Review
22 Jun 2010

Android phones are making waves in the mobile market, moving ahead and invading market share. Although Samsung had experiences with Android phones, namely the Galaxy i7500, then the Spica i5700, the general response was lukewarm. Most of the phones from all brands were trying to mimic the success of the Apple iPhone but failed miserably because of the screen and the usability.

Samsung announced it’s 3rd Android phone earlier this year and has gone on sale in Singapore under the Singtel exclusive arrangement. So what does Samsung Galaxy S has that makes it stand out from the rest.

The first thing to note is the 1GHz CPU Speed (S5PC111), 4″ AMOLED Screen on the Galaxy S. It supports up to 16 million colours. The screen is rather bright and has a high contrast ratio thus bringing out the vivid colours. Place side by side with an iPhone, you would notice that the phone is extremely slim.

The phone comes preinstalled with Android 2.1 and has a 5 mega pixel camera built in. It has a 3.5mm jack, microUSB for charging the battery. It runs on the GSM Quad-band handset, UMTS tri-band global 3G network.

Samsung customised the Android phone with some additional features, for example, it comes with Daily Briefing on Samsung GALAXY S allows you to transform your phone into your personal secretary by organizing and updating you on news, stock performance, weather and your schedule for the day. There is also the Social Hub - Phonebook seamlessly integrates all of your SNS, IM (Palringo), email, and calendar accounts, so you no longer need to spend time checking separate sites. Samsung GALAXY S lets you easily keep in touch with your loved ones. With Samsung GALAXY S’s integrated messaging, you can automatically sync and manage the history for all your SNS and IM accounts.

For the office worker, there is  ThinkFree office allows you to access documents saved online via your Samsung GALAXY S. You can add an image, amend text, then save straight away. Text entry is further enhanced with Swype - With the ‘Text at Hyperspeed’ by Swype Technology you can type your text 1.5 times faster than standard texting. And the ‘Write & Go’ feature allows you to select a pre-written text and choose to send it later by SNS, SMS, MMS, email, calendar or memo!

In addition the Samsung Galaxy S comes with Layar reality Browser, Wireless tethering and AllShare (via DLNA), in which you can wirelessly connect and share videos, photos, music and more between your phone, TV and PC.

On the next page, we will take a look at the features and see if

Specifications & features of the handset:

There were lots of speculations about the specifications of the Altek Leo 14 megapixel camera phone. Today, our team managed to get a glimpse of this phone and find out more about the details.

As the first 14 megapixel camera phone to enter the market, the Altek Leo smartphone comes with Google Android 2.1 installed. Being a Google phone, there are tons of applications which can be downloaded and installed. On top of that, you can access the Google services like GMail, Maps etc just like any Google phone. Currently, the phone is powered by Eclair. It will be upgrade to Froyo but no data is given.

Although it is a phone, the emphasis is more on it’s camera feature. The camera uses a nimage sensor is a 1/2.3-inch CCD, a common version found in standalone point-and-shoots. This ensures better quality pictures with less noise. The optics is a 3X optical with 36mm widest. It has a xenon Flash and the software has the usual smile detection, panorama, environment scenes etc. There are also various controls for zoom and a shutter just like a camera.

The phone wil begin selling in Greater China region in Q4 this year at a retail price of USD 499. Hopefully it will reach our shores at the same time.
