LG held the LG G2 Day Singapore press event on 12th Sept 2013 at Ritz-Carlton Singapore, Millenia Pavilion. We were there to hands on the latest LG G2 smartphone.

The LG G2 smartphone is the 2nd generation of the G series for premium devices. It enhances the experience with user centric features that are not found on other Android smartphones out there.

This smartphone is powered by 2.26GHz quad core Qualcomm SnapDragon 800 Krait processor. It has a 5.2 nich Full HD IPS (1080×1920/423ppi) display and has a 32GB RAM, 2GB LPDDR 800Mhz memory. The phone also has a 13 Megapixel rear camera with OIS and a 2.1 megapixel front camera for video conferencing. To maximise the performance, it comes with a 3000mAh battery and is powered with Android 4.2.2 JellyBean. It runs on 4G LTE network.

Features wise, the LG G2 now comes with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). The demonstration showed 2 other phones taking the same object with LG stabilisation software, it managed to capture very stable images even if you have shaky hands. The camera also has 8X the normal digital zoom and multi point AF to up to 9 AF points.

Now taking self portraits or with friends is simpler, you no longer need to set a countdown timer to do that. LG redefines this useful feature with a Rear Key. The rear key allows you to snap photos with your index finger right behind the smartphone.

As for video recording, LG implements Audio Zoom which allows you to focus the recording on the particular object or person and reduce the background noise. You can also do Dual Recording by activating both front and rear camera at the same time.

If you want to lend your phone to a friend, you can now activate Guest mode so that it maintains your private information. Another feature is Knock On, with that you can now turn the display on or off wit a simple knocking gesture.

Last but not least, LG has an accessory call Quick Window Cover which not only serves as a protector for your smartphone, it has a small window which show the clock, notifications etc. Use it to protect the phone while you can still access frequently used functions by simply sliding and selecting them in the small window.

The price for the G2 is 898 SGD and it will be available in all telcos and authorized retailers from 21st September 2013.

We check out the phone on page 2.
