After HTC announced it’s plans to deliver the HTC Hero’s Android 2.1 firmware, consumers have been waiting for the update. Last week, HTC finally delivers it’s promise to OTA the HERO firmware (android 2.1) to it’s south east asian customers (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia etc).

Some readers have been feeding back to me in social media, forums that they have been waiting for 3 to 4 days, the update just didn’t “pick their handset”.  My suggestion to them were, wait for another few more days or download the firmware and update it themselves.

The most absurb resolution was to bring the system date to 2011. Reports elsewhere indicate that it helped. So, one of my readers actually tried that but 2 days have passed with no updates (power up/down). The last thing he did was that he set the calendar date to 2013! Guess what, after the OTA update came almost instaneously! He finally got his new helicopter view HTC Sense.

So, if you are still waiting, you can Flash Forward to 2013 and I bet you should be able to download the firmware over the air almost immediately.

Post your findings in the comments section or in the forums.

  2. It’s amazing how much HTC is behind in updates. I have a Motorola and get updates instantaneously. I would highly recommend not using HTC in the future. I’d even use Apple over them! Ick!

  9. Thank you for the good article, I’m very excited. I’ve had my phone for simply over a month now and am in reality playing all of the unfastened apps from the android marketplace, having the ability to have the web and navigation at my fingertips all the time. The only not up to idea characteristic is the image/video text messages, as they aren’t downloading properly.
