SingTel on the other hand was launched in June and will only cover 80% by year end and 95% by 1Q 2013. Starhub is expected to roll out LTE by year end.
Both telco uses LTE that runs on 1,800MHz and 2.600MHz frequencies. Customers who buy 4G devices do take note that it must support these spectrums otherwise it can’t take advantage of LTE.
Phones and tablet that will work are Samsung Galaxy Note LTE, Samsung Galaxy SII LTE, HTC One XL and LG Optimus True HD LTE phones, as well as the Asus Transformer Pad TF300TL and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE tablets. Unfortunately the Apple new iPad won’t run in LTE mod as it supports the 700MHz and 2100MHz spectrums.
HTC announced it’s availability of the new HTC One X on 2 Apr 2012 (tomorrow). We are delighted to be able to try out this amazing phone at the HTC One World Event held at Marina Bay Sands Hall Press Event.
When we first looked at the exterior of the HTC One X, we were attracted by it’s polycabonate unibody. It just look spectacular in it’s own. Powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 3 mobile processor at 1.5GHz, it gives the phone a speed boost with the multi core GPU. It is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The screen is exceptionally sharp and white is definitely white and not grey to the eyes. Reading from the screen is a pleasure as it has a 4.7″ 720p HD screen crafted from contoured Corning Gorilla Glass.
As it is a smartphone with multimedia as focus, the HTC One X comes with an amazing camera and audio playback. With ImageSense HTC One is able to compete with digital camera with it’s fast speed ImageChip and lens. In merely 0.7s, you can take a shot without missing out the important scenes. The phone is also capable of doing sperfast capture at 0.2secs auto focus by holding the shutter button.
The f/2.0 lens is also capable of capture at low light or even no light. It also includes HDR for taking photos at varying levels of brightness.
With Video Pic, you can capture a photo and video shoot at the same time. You can rewind the video, and take a shot you missed in the video capture too.
You can also share photos and videos with Dropbox as it is integrated with HTC Sense. Most importantly, you can now share your contents, play games, read emails via HTC Media Link HD (See video 2 on page 2). It is definitely easier to configure than any others in the market.
As for audio, it has Beats by Dr. Dre integrated. With HTC Sync Manager, you can sync with iTunes or Windows Media Player. You can also listen to streaming internet radio station on the move with the car stereo clip.
On page 2, we will show you how easy HTC Media Link HD works.

HTC One series of smartphones that represent its most premium mobile experience with a new
level of iconic design, consisting of an amazing camera, authentic sound and state-of-the-art
Media Link HD Display.
Video 1 – Presentation part 1 of 2
“One of the key objectives for the HTC One series, was to enable the user to remember their
best moments in life easily, whether it be capturing a photo or listening to a song, so it was
crucial for us to improve these emotional experiences with an amazing camera and authentic
sound experience,” said Lennard Hoornik, President of HTC South Asia Pacific. “We are very
focused on creating an invaluable camera and audio experience that is user-friendly, so
customers will love using it and we believe that the HTC One series will deliver this like never

With HTC’s most premium experience, the HTC One series integrates Android 4.0 (ICS) with HTC
Sense™ 4, the new version of HTC’s branded user experience that is introducing HTC
ImageSense™, a new suite of camera and imaging features that set HTC One apart from other
phones. HTC Sense 4 also includes broad enhancements to audio quality and simplifies how
people listen to music on their phone.
Amazing Camera
With ImageSense HTC One rivals traditional digital cameras with improvements to every part of
the camera, including the lens, the sensor, the software, and even integrating a new custom HTC
ImageChip. These enhancements combine to deliver our fastest image capture, best image
quality under adverse conditions and easiest interface that enables quick access to capturing
stills and videos with side-by-side photo and video capture buttons.
. Superfast Capture – HTC One dramatically reduces the time it takes to capture those key
moments. In just 0.7 seconds you’re able to take a shot, and with a new superfast 0.2-
seconds autofocus, continue to take nearly unlimited continuous shots simply by

capturing 40 percent more light than the f/2.4 lenses available on other high-end
phones. HTC One also includes HDR, a market-leading technology, for taking great
photos even when there are varying levels of brightness.

shoot video at the same time. Now, while you’re shooting HD video, all you have to do
is tap the shutter button and it snaps a high-resolution still photo while the video
continues to shoot. You are also able to capture a photo frame from a previously
recorded video.
. Dropbox integrated with HTC Sense – HTC One gives you an easy way to save and share
your photos and videos. HTC has integrated Dropbox into HTC Sense 4 enabling HTC One

HTC One also makes it easy to get and listen to your music on your phone with the built-in HTC Sync Manager software that automatically installs to your computer when connected. Once connected, it is easy to transfer songs, artists and playlists from your music library.
Of course, people today no longer just listen to the songs stored on their phones; they use streaming services and tune into Internet radio. So HTC One lets you customize the new Music Hub with your favorite services and music applications, like the latest Soundhound technology, giving you one place to go for all of your music.
HTC One lets you take all of your music anywhere, including the car. With HTC One, you get an easy way to bring your mobile music to your car’s sound system with the HTC Car Stereo Clip*. HTC One X
The HTC One X features a beautifully crafted polycarbonate unibody that has the ruggedness of metal but is super lightweight. With seamless construction, the unibody combines a unique high gloss ‘piano’ finish and a matte back. HTC One is blazing fast with the new NVIDIA® Tegra 3 Mobile Processor for clear graphics, faster applications and longer battery life. It includes a 1.5GHz Super 4-PLUS-1™ quad-core with an integrated fifth Battery Saver Core and a high-performance 12-Core NVIDIA® GPU. The HTC One also has an amazing 4.7-inch, 720p HD screen crafted from contoured Corning™ Gorilla Glass. HTC One X will also be available in select 4G LTE markets with a LTE-enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon S4™ processor with up to 1.5GHz dual-core CPU’s.
HTC One S
The HTC One S is for people who want a high-end smartphone in a more compact size. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with up to 1.5GHz dual-core CPU’s. It also includes a 4.3-inch screen crafted from contoured Corning™ Gorilla Glass. HTC One S brings HTC’s innovative metal unibody styling to a new thin 7.9-mm design, making it HTC’s thinnest phone yet. The HTC One S sports two new finishes that break new ground in mobile phone innovation. The first is an ultra-matte black Ceramic Metal surface that is the result of a microarc oxidation (MAO) process originally developed for use in satellites. It transforms the surface of the aluminum unibody into a ceramic, super-dense crystalline structure that is four times harder than anodized aluminum, enabling the HTC One S to look great over time. The second finish for the One S takes anodizing to a new level with a new patented process that creates a light-to-dark gradient fade that looks gorgeous and sophisticated.
HTC One V
Utilizing the classic, award-winning design of the HTC Legend, the HTC One V brings top-end design to a smartphone with broad appeal and a premium experience that delivers an amazing camera and authentic sound. It features a simple, iconic aluminum unibody design that exudes craftsmanship and quality.
Global Availability
With unprecedented excitement, the HTC One series will begin shipping in April with broad global availability available beginning in April through more than 140 mobile operators and distributors globally. For more information and to pre-register for HTC One visit www.htc.com.

On Wednesday, VIA Technologies and WTI announced that the two have reached an agreement to sell holdings in S3 Graphics to HTC for $300 million. S3 Graphics builds hardware graphics solutions for a number of consumer devices including game consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. VIA will receive $147 million from the deal while WTI will take home $153 million. “The transaction would allow VIA to monetize a portion of its rich IP portfolio, yet retain its graphics capabilities to support the development and sale of its processors and chipsets,” said Tzu-mu Lin, Senior Vice President and Board Director of VIA. The deal is still subject to regulatory approval but is expected to close before the end of this year. Read on for the full press release.
VIA Technologies Announces Sale of Stake in S3 Graphics
TAIPEI, Taiwan–(BUSINESS WIRE)–VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, today announced the signing of definitive agreement to sell all of its shareholding in S3 Graphics Co., Ltd. (“S3 Graphics”) to HTC Corporation (“HTC”). S3 Graphics is a leading provider of innovative graphics visualization technologies used in PCs, game consoles and, more recently, mobile devices.
VIA acquired S3 Graphics in 2001 with the intention to accelerate integration of graphics capabilities with its processor and chipset products. S3 Graphics became undercapitalized in 2005, and VIA introduced WTI Investment International, Ltd. (“WTI”) as a new investor to help fund the operations and R&D initiatives. WTI is a private investment company, in which Cher Wang, Chairman of VIA, is a significant shareholder.
Under terms of the agreement with HTC, total consideration for all outstanding shares of S3 Graphics will be US$300 million. Of which, VIA will receive US$147 million; and WTI will receive US$153 million. VIA will recognize a capital gain of US$37 million and paid-in-capital of US$115 million in this transaction.
“The transaction would allow VIA to monetize a portion of its rich IP portfolio, yet retain its graphics capabilities to support the development and sale of its processors and chipsets,” said Tzu-mu Lin, Senior Vice President and Board Director of VIA. “We wish to thank WTI for its capital contribution to support S3 Graphics since 2005.”
The proposed transaction has received approvals from the boards of directors of VIA, WTI, and HTC. Subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions, the transaction is expected to close before end of 2011.
Yesterday, we received notifications of the available update of our 2 Windows Phone 7 phones. Both the HTC trophy 7 and LG Optimus 7 received the update without any errors.
It is not to our surprise that the new patches didn’t change much of the existing OS. Errors arising from failed installations still exists. This happened when we download Guitar Hero 5. To the phone, it seems to be installed and it prompts for an update. When you click the update button, it prompts Failure with Error 8000FFFF. There is also no way you can uninstall the application as it is not listed in the XBOX LIVE Tile.
Below are some pictures of the update procedure which took around 15 minutes to complete.
Singapore – 21 January, 2011 – HTC has released a ‘Firmware Over the Air’ (FOTA) update for the HTC Wildfire & HTC Legend. Phone owners will receive a pop-up notification on their smartphones when the FOTA update is made available.
Simply accept the update via a data connection* (Wi-Fi or 3G/GPRS) when the update notification pops up. After installation, you can verify the successful update by confirming that the Build Number reads “2.24.707.1.” for the HTC Wildfire and “3.15.707.3.” for the HTC Legend respectively (From the Home Screen, go to MENU> Settings> About phone> Software Information> Build number). Android version should also reflect “2.2” at the top of the Software Information screen.
*Note: Please backup your data before firmware update. We highly recommend using a Wi-Fi connection or unlimited data plan to implement the update as standard data connection charges may apply.
According to a report on Digitimes, it is said that HTC plans to launch 3 tablets in the 1H 2011. The first model is named Flyer which will ship in March in US. The new device looks like an enlarged version of HTC’s Desire smartphone, will be powered by Android 2.3.
HTC will launch the Flyer tablets in cooperation with a telecom carrier, aiming to push sales ahead the planned launch of RIM’s PlayBook in March and Motorola’s Xoom in April, the sources noted.
Users will be able to upgrade the OS to Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) whenever the new OS is available, indicated the sources.
The Flyer will be available in other markets starting the second quarter of 2011. HTC is expected to launch the two other tablets in June running on Android 3.0, added the sources.
The Android version of the MeRadio application will be available for users to tune in to MediaCorp radio while on the move.
The Android version will initially be made available exclusively to selected HTC Android phone models for a three month period. From OCT 2010, it will be made available to all other Android phone users.
The Android version of MeRadio app will feature a unique background button allowing user to listen to the station while doing other tasks. It also boosts the call and email function, allowing listenders to contact with the radio stations without having to dial or key in email addresses. With Twitter and emial support, listeners can slo tell their friends what station and songs they are listening to at the touch of a button.
The Android version of MeRadio will be available to HTC users from 7 Jul 2010. The application can be downloaded from htc.com by entering your imei number
The application is exclusively for HTC Wildfire, Desire, Legend and Hero.
Samsung Galaxy was revealed at CITA Wireless 2010 and the full specification of the phone was never released till now.
Today the spec has leak via FRAndroid A French Tech/Android Blog.
Galaxy S screen hardware also comes with a 16 point multitouch Atmel maXTouch that can handle up to 16 input simultaneously (theoretically sound but we are not sure if Samsung has fully implemented it into the phone. With such high end parts comes higher production cost for the screen. So are we paying more for something that we might not use? We will have to wait till Android OS get ironed out to realize if Galaxy S can prove itself as a powerhouse smartphone to be reckon with) Something we do notice is that the phone multitouch is more accurate than the HTC Desire.
Aside from this piece of good news. We recently came across Gameloft dropping a surprise for Android users. We saw 10 games via their own pay site which was pull down after the initial launch (Some nexus users complained that some of the game offered did not work, OCWorkbench suspect that these 10 games was actually build for and aimed at Galaxy S as the launch platform thus the pull out till further notice.) FRAndroid manage to get their hand busy playing NOVA on Galaxy S.

Social media is a good tool for communicating with your customers. Although it is good, if not done properly would backfire on your own product.
On the HTC Singapore fan page, a few customer who send their phone back for servicing only to realise that their phone warranty was void – reason HTC sg gave was your phone has come in contact with water and slap with a repair fee (there is no repair done at all). 90 percent of these customer had never came in contact with water on their phone. HTC is relying on moisture sticker which is totally not accurate at all
These lead to these users posting their unhappiness about the technical support of HTC Singapore. HTC Singapore probably couldn’t take the heat and decided to close their fan page.
Earlier this month, HTC Legend goes on sale in Singapore. There were already speculations that the higher specification phone HTC Desire should reach Singapore as early as May.
An invitation has been sent out to media of an impending press event to be held on the 14th May 2010. It is speculated that the event should be the launch event of HTC Desire. No price information is available right now but we expect the telecom operators will be gearing up for another war for the Android fans.
So will you go for the HTC Desire or wait for the HTC Incredible ? Post your views here.
HTC announced both the Legend and Desire at the MWC2010 at Barcelona earlier this year. Of the two, the HTC Legend is of a lower spec. Although it hasn’t got the processor muscle to take on the 1GHz snapdragon smartphones, the HTC Legend does have a decent specification for it’s latest Android phones. The HTC Legend features Android 2.1 and the new HTC Sense and comes in a unique aluminum unibody design, giving it a leg up over the HTC Desire in the style category.
The specifications are quite similar to the older HTC Hero with some minor updates. The Legend features a 3.2 inch AMOLED display, 600MHz processor, 512MB ROM, 384MB RAM, 5MP camera with flash, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 with FTP and OPP file transfer capabilities, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB tethering capabilities.
So far, only the Motorola Milestone supports pinch and zoom or multitouch feature which was made popular by the iPhone. The HTC Legend also has that too named “Leap”. Just pinch the screen to zoom out and you will see all your home screens panels with their widgets. Tap the panel you want and you will Leap right to it. The second new feature in HTC Sense is the new Friend Stream integration and widget.
The HTC Desire simplifies the way that you tend to all of your social networks. With Friend Stream, your interaction with friends across multiple social networks like Facebook®, Twitter™, and Flickr™ are brought into a single easy to follow stream of updates, photo posts, and shared links. Friend Stream also lets you shout out your thoughts or feelings to all your online friends with a single comment that gets broadcast to both Facebook and Twitter.
The HTC Legend measures in at 112 x 56.3 x 11.5mm compared to the Hero’s 112 x 56.2 x 14.35 mm and weighs 9 grams less at 126 grams.
On the next page, we take a first hand look at the retail version of the HTC Legend. It goes on sale last Saturday in Singapore.
