An eSIM is a SIM that is embedded into seleted phones, tablets and smart watches. If you have any of the following phone models, you can purchase an eSIM for a Circles.Life mobile plan or convert an existing SIM to eSIM on it’s app.

So, why do we need eSIM ? eSIM is a SIM in the form or a QR code which can be added to supported phones. For new sign up during the COVIC 19 period, it is the simplest and fastest way to deliver a SIM and activate it over the internet.

I would choose to switch to eSIM is because I can take advantage of the single SIM slot for another Physical SIM. For example, the Pixel 3a only comes with a Physical SIM slot but it has two radios. In order to run two numbers on the same phone, one has to be in the form of an eSIM.

Although eSIM is popular, there are two camps of eSIM, one is by the popular brands like Apple, Samsung, Google and the other is the Chinese brands of phones.

eSIM-compatible phones:

  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)
  • Google Pixel 3a
  • Google Pixel 4
  • Google Pixel 4 XL
  • Samsung Galaxy Fold
  • Samsung Galaxy S20
  • Samsung Galaxy S20+
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

Once you apply it via the app, the eSIM will be sent via email to your maibox. To register the eSIM, you will have to add new network and scan the QR code. Once it is done, it will look something like this.

In this Pixel 3a, we have Circleslife installed as a Downloaded SIM (eSIM). It is labelled as CIRCLEASIA. The other SIM is our Physical SIM card from TPG.

Circles.Life gives you three times to scan the QR code. That is to say, you can use the same QR code 3 times if you switched phones. It is not known how much they will charge if you were to switch back to Physical SIM. I am sure that will incur some costs.

So, will you switched to eSIM ?
