First Look: DJI Osmo 360 Camera

You can purchase it on AMAZON US Store or AMAZON UK Store.

We’ve gotten our hands on the new DJI Osmo 360 camera, and we’re ready to share our initial thoughts. The dual 1-inch sensors capture some really impressive footage in both daylight and low-light conditions, which you can see in the video.

As DJI’s first foray into the 360 camera market, there’s a bit of a learning curve. We found some of the features a bit confusing, particularly when it comes to editing with the DJI Mimo app. We’re still trying to master the keyframe feature, so expect more updates as we figure it out.

You also have instant options to dewarp the entire video clip or create an “asteroid” effect, placing yourself at the center of the surrounding scene.

In the second video below, we make use of more keyframes to create the 4K/50 video. Keyframes let you direct the ‘camera’ to highlight specific elements you want to showcase in the final output.

The camera’s interface also took some getting used to. For instance, the two buttons—a circle and a square—have specific functions that aren’t immediately intuitive. The square button is for recording and stopping, while the circle button flips the lens. We’re still getting the hang of things, but we’re excited to see what this camera can do.
