Sony lanuches Android powered Walkman Z series music player NWZ-Z1050

Sony today launches the Walkman Z series music player in Singapore. The launch was held at Helipad. If you remember, the Walkman was first introduced back in 1979 and it was an instant hit among the young.

Today with digital audio, the Walkman is not longer just another personal audio playback device but a mobile entertainment player. Not only can you play audio, you can watch video, play games and run Android power apps on it just like what you do on your phones but with emphasis on audio reproduction.

This is possible with an anti-reflective 4.3” multi-touch LCD screee. With 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and powered by Android 2.3, it makes scrolling through the options very liquid, be it whether you’re browsing web pages, movies or apps.

The SONY NWZ-Z1050 features the new S-Master MX digital amplifier which greatly reduces noise and distortion level in your music, you also get the best-ever Walkman® in-ear experience on the go, thanks to the full range of 5 Clear Audio Technologies – S-Master MX, Clear Bass, Clear Stereo, DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine), and EX headphones which delivers a truly phenomenal portable audio experience that many have come to expect from a Walkman® from Sony.

There is a W.BUTTON allows one to launch the unique W.Control app; allowing you to explore your music collection in an intuitive manner. You can flip through the cover art and enjoy viewing the on screen visualisations when playing back your audio. Walkman® Z Series can even sort your music collection using SensMe™ – be spoiled for choice from a total of 14 mood-themed channels to suit the time of day or the way you feel.

With XLOUD, you can now listen to your favourite music without the need to get hold of a docking station.

Similar to other Sony products, the Tablet, Walkman Z series allows you to share your content wirelessly viai WI-FI and connects to other DLNA-enabled devices. Simply ‘throw’ your music, pictures and videos from your Walkman® screen by ‘flicking’ them directly to compatible TVs, PCs, or home audio system to stream your media effortlessly.

Additionally, you can plug the Walkman using the HDMI cable to output the audio, video or games to LCD TV. Alternatively you can connect via Bluetooth® to compatible speakers, headphones, hi-fi systems or car stereos effortlessly with no wire clutter.

The Battery life for Mp3 128kbps playback is approx 20 hours while Video playback (MMPEG-4 384kbps) is around 5 hours. with a 1300mAh battery.

Although it is a multimedia device, there is no back camera nor microSD card slot for memory expansion.
