Pete Lau, Oppo’s Chief Product Officer, teased the Oppo Find X7 Ultra displaying “5GA,” indicating its support for 5.5G technology, a first for the Find X7 series. A Weibo post suggests the standard Find X7 may also receive this update despite differences in chipsets.
Over 20 devices are expected to become 5.5G compatible within a year, with China Mobile aiming to cover 300 cities by year-end, starting with major urban areas like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
5G-Advanced, also known as 3GPP Release 18, promises speeds up to 10Gbps down and 1Gbps up, with China Mobile already demonstrating its capabilities nationwide. This release includes non-terrestrial networks, hinting at Oppo’s upcoming Find X7 Ultra variant with satellite communication capabilities, likely a new device rather than a firmware update.
