Sony Ericsson confirmed that the Xperia X8 is ready to launch on Android 2.1 in selected markets. Due to operator testing in various markets where they may not be ready to go ahead with 2.1, the X8 will be launched on Android 1.6. But in these cases, an upgrade to 2.1 will be made available shortly after purchase.
