ASUS EA-AC87 5GHz Wireless-AC 1800 Media Bridge / Access Point Review [3 pages]
Bluetooth 5 Jul 2015

Wireless internet connectivity within a home or office is slowly eroding the ugly dangling ethernet cables. Although we got rid of the long cables from hall to room or to the upper floors, WiFi signal levels are always not “enough” to reach certain corners or rooms. In addition, internet capable tv or boxes on a separate room or floor might get consistent signal for video streams. This is very real for those who uses IPTV systems like Singtel mio tv (wired mode) or M1 Mibox.

What is the solution then? Well, you can change the aging access point to the EA-AC87 which supports 802.11ac at 5GHz. As it uses a 4×4 MIMO design and AiRadar universal beamforming for unrivaled multi-device performance and wireless signal coverage up to 465 m2(around 5,000 ft2)

Alternatively, if you have your IPTVs or devices on another floor or room, the ASUS EA-AC87 can be paired to the older router in the form of a bridge mode. In this scenario, devices such as the Singtel mio tv box which does not come with any WiFi capability can be hooked up to the AC-87 instead of the router residing on the 1st level connected to the ONT.

Here is how the package looks like.
