Apple Pay comes to Singapore with DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB and Standard Chartered Bank card with rebates up to 20%

From today onwards, you can choose to pay using Apple Pay, the new contactless payment system from Apple.

Contactless payment is not new in Singapore. It is commonly used on MRT and buses through EzLink or NETS FlashPay. Both can also be used for payment at some retail stores but are quite limited.

There is also VISA PayWave which is more accepted in retail stores and online purchases.

Apple Pay is making it’s headway into the Singapore market by typing up with 5 local banks namely DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB and Standard Chartered Bank.

To use Apple Pay, you have to configure your iPhone 6, iPad or watch with details of your Credit Card/Debit Card. The following are supported devices  and pay at counters with the following logo:

For a start, the banks are offering rebates for their users of debit/credit cards by setting up Apple Pay and use it for transactions within the promotion period.

For example, UOB offers  the first 10,000 customers that uses a UOB Visa Credit or Debit card using Apple Pay will get a S$10 cash rebate. On top of that, there are $1 deals at Gong Cha, KOI, Sakae Sushi just to name a few.

OCBC is giving a 3% rebate islandwide. Pay with your OCBC Cards using Apple Pay to enjoy 3% rebate on your purchases islandwide from 25 May 2016 to 25 June 2016 with a cap of S$15 per customer.

For DBS and POSB customers, add your DBS/POSB Visa & MasterCard Credit and Debit Cards to Apple Pay and be rewarded with 20% cashback* from now till 24 August 2016. 20% cashback is given for a single or accumulated spend of up to S$50. Cashback is capped at S$10 per customer, for the first 50,000 eligible customers. Valid till 24 Aug 2016.

Standard Chartered Bank is also giving a 20% CashBack on your Apple Pay spend amounts, subject to a cap of S$50 per cardholder. The promotion is valid from 25 May to 25 June 2016 (both dates inclusive). Limited to the first 10,000 cardholders who make at least one eligible transaction through Apple Pay.
