SINGAPORE, January 7, 2014 — LG Electronics (LG) announced today that the anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade for the LG G3 smartphone is expected to roll out over the air today.
“We are constantly pushing for timely software updates to provide loyal consumers with new enhancements to improve their user experience,” said Mr. Scott Jung, Managing Director of LG Electronics Singapore. “Android 5.0 Lollipop for LG G3 delivers a number of optimizations that showcase a more minimalist user interface as well as features that enhance user convenience.”
With the upgrade, the LG G3 will showcase a new design language with added depth, shadow and animations. Notifications are improved with a new layout and color scheme and will be available on the new lock screen. A new security feature to strengthen the connectivity between devices will include enabling users to unlock their LG G3 smartphone when it is physically near a pre-registered Bluetooth device such as the LG G Watch or G Watch R. Android 5.0 Lollipop also introduces Android Runtime (ART) software to improve performance.
On top of that, Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with a new feature that is made exclusively for LG G3 called T Action. By swiftly flipping the LG G3 from front-back-front, T Action allows users to perform the following tasks:
- Answering an incoming call;
- Making a direct call to sender of the message when reading from the message panel;
- Playing the next song on the playlist;
- Trigger to begin the front camera three second countdown timer;
- Returning to the previous page surfed when using the browser;
- Turning off the alarm;
