The M1 3G shutdown has impacted both M1 prepaid and Maxx users. While efforts are being made to ensure a smooth transition from 3G to 4G, some issues are inevitable.
As of today, M1 prepaid and Maxx users might experience a loss of signal. Prepaid users who typically don’t enable data or have exhausted their data may find they cannot access their services. Without M1 4G network access, users cannot log into the app, as it requires OTP verification sent over the network.
Maxx users will face a similar problem. Once data is depleted, the service defaults to 3G for voice calls. Without available data, Maxx users won’t be able to make or receive calls unless they use VoWIFI.
Similarly, Circles.Life Flex users who have used up their 1 GB data allocation will also be unable to make or receive voice calls unless connected via VoWIFI.
To sum it out, once you exhausted all data on your plan, you will be cut off from the network.
To resolve the issue, M1 activate 4G for all prepaid card and inform users to disable data on the smartphone if they do not wish to use data or have a data plan (adhoc data is costly). Secondly, VoLTE must be turned on to ensure voice calls can be made or received.
