M1 Launches Faster, Smarter 5G for Businesses with New RedCap Tech
Singapore – May 29, 2025 – M1, a top communications company, has just launched its new 5G RedCap network for businesses. This is a big step for M1’s 5G services and marks the very first time this advanced 5G technology has been rolled out for businesses in Southeast Asia. It’s part of the next generation of 5G networks, called 5G-Advanced.
What is 5G RedCap?
Imagine a special bridge between older internet-connected devices (IoT) and the full power of 5G. That’s 5G RedCap. It’s designed to be more efficient for many business uses, offering:
- More reliable connections
- Faster responses
- Longer battery life for devices
- Lower costs
- Better coverage
- Stronger security
This means businesses can connect more types of devices, like sensors and wearables, to 5G without needing the full, often more expensive, capabilities of standard 5G.
M1’s Enhanced 5G for Businesses
RedCap joins M1’s already strong lineup of 5G features for companies, including:
- Network Slicing: Creating dedicated, high-performance connections for specific business needs.
- Speed Priority: Making sure important business data gets through quickly.
- VIP Access: Giving top priority to critical business operations.
- Advanced Data Speeds: Ensuring fast downloads and uploads.
All these features work together to give businesses across different industries the exact kind of internet connection they need.
Powered by Singapore’s Leading Network
M1’s new 5G services are supported by one of Singapore’s most comprehensive networks. This includes full 5G Standalone (SA) coverage across the entire island and even 5G coverage for ships along Singapore’s southern coast.
M1’s Commitment to Business Connectivity
“M1 is setting the standard for business connectivity in our region,” said Andrew Cheng, M1’s Chief of Enterprise Services. “By being the first in Southeast Asia to offer 5G RedCap, we’re helping our customers gain an edge with more efficient, reliable, and scalable connected solutions. This is a key investment in the future of business connectivity, putting us at the forefront of the next wave of business-focused IoT.”
M1 is working with Nokia for their 5G RedCap technology. “5G RedCap will open up new opportunities for many industries, connecting potentially billions of new devices with 5G,” said Jae Won, Senior Vice President and Head of APAC for Mobile Networks at Nokia.
To make sure businesses have compatible devices, M1 has also teamed up with Ransnet, a local company that makes IoT and connectivity solutions. This partnership will speed up the creation and delivery of RedCap-ready devices for Singaporean businesses.
“Our partnership with Nokia reinforces M1’s commitment to delivering top-notch connectivity,” added Mr. Cheng. “By bringing this pioneering technology to Singapore, we’re showing our dedication to providing businesses with the most advanced solutions. This builds on our existing 5G services that are already transforming how businesses operate today.”
