Today marks the global availability of Windows 8.1, a free update for consumers with Windows 8 or Windows RT devices. Beginning today, consumers with a Windows 8 device in more than 230 markets and 37 languages can download the free update via the online Windows Store. Similarly, businesses now have access to the final versions of Windows 8.1 Pro and Windows 8.1 Enterprise to deploy across their organizations. Windows 8.1 will also be available on new devices and as boxed software starting October 18 at retail locations around the world.

· Refined features: Windows 8.1 delivers a host of increased customization refinements, functional improvements and new innovation, offering more ways to create an experience that is personal, mobile expressive and keeps pace with your life.

· New devices: Customers can go to http://www.windows.com/shop to learn about the wide variety of new Windows devices available now and coming throughout the holiday season to find the one that best fits their needs, and their budget.
· Windows Embedded 8.1: Microsoft is simultaneously making Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry generally available today, offering Windows 8.1 technologies across a wide array of hardware, including specialized industry devices.
Reddit IAmA: In addition to the resources mentioned, Microsoft will be hosting an IAmA chat on reddit from 1:30am to 3:00am (SGT) tomorrow, with several engineers on hand to answer your questions about Windows 8.1.
Tech Thursday: After the reddit chat, Microsoft will host a special Tech Thursday Live Twitter Chat to discuss Windows 8.1 from 3:00am to 4:00am (SGT). Join @Windows, @kristinalibby, and @brandonleblanc using the hashtag #winchat to participate.
