Nokia and Intel are merging their linux derivaties – Nokia’s Maemo and Intel’s Moblin platform into one operating system which can run on a number of electronic devices including smart phones, laptops and TV sets.

This new linux operating platform will be known as MeeGo (not to be mistaken as instant noddle) is an open platform just like Android or bada. It will be openly available to developers from the second quarter of this year, the companies said.

MeeGo is free to use and their strategy is to make money from the applications on the platform.
