Let’s take a look at what is inside the package

[nextpage title=”Benchmarks”]

How does the processor perform?

PCMARK

From the Work 2.0 performance benchmark in PCMark, we can see that it works just as fast as other competitors with the similar processor Snapdragon 865.

From our tests, playing back of 4k Youtube video warms it up to 36.7 deg C. After running PCMark tests, the temperature is only 35.5 deg C.

We tested the two locations, the first at Dover Road near ACS and the second test was conducted at the platform of Buona Vista MRT station.

Using nperf, you can also do active mapping and contribute to the 5G map for the respective telco (in this case, we are using M1).

The speeds aren’t fantastic, they average around 100 Mbps to 150 Mbps. This test proves that Mi 10T Pro is not firmware locked to support the Singapore 5G network unlike some other brands.

According to the specs, the smartphone comes with a triple camera set up at the rear and a front selfie camera.

The back camera default takes pictures in wide screen mode. You might want to set it to 4:3 ratio or 16:9.

The shot was taken using initially at 27 MP and in 108 MP. The first picture is displayed in 1:1 ratio while the 108 MP picture is screen reduced to half it’s resolution.

If we were to zoom in to 1:1, the wordings Fullerton will appear in greater detail.

Although it may be difficult to view the difference on a mobile screen, the 108 MP did give more details and somewhat the pictures get overexposed. The resolution and the file is also way larger on 108 MP. Seriously, I think taking photos at 27 MP (4:3 ratio) is sufficient.

Something interesting with Xiaomi phones is the ease to install gcam mod file. With the mod, we compare to night mode shot.

Using the night mode of the default camera, we took the shot below and took another using the gcam mod.

Which photo do you prefer? The original photo is cooler in colours while the Gcam is warmer. In fact, the same shot from the Pixel 3 XL looks similar to the Gcam mod. It is able to process the details.

I would say that both photos are good night shots as it was very dim at the location of the shoot near Boon Lay MRT Station.

The rear camera can record in 4K 60 fps. We test it against the Pixel 3 XL and compare the image stabilisation of the videos. Although it is not the best among the phones we have seen so far, it captured the clarity with pretty good stability without a gimbal.

As mentioned, there are other features like photo clones, star trials etc on the Mi 10T pro. Below is a video by Xiaomi which demonstrates these interesting features.

[nextpage title=”Conclusion”]

After 2 weeks of testing and going around hunting for 5G signals, we find that the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro is indeed a smartphone that integrates performance, design and technology in one but at an affordable price.

In terms of design, the smartphone uses a 144 Hz adaptive refresh rate LCD screen instead of AMOLED. While some prefer an AMOLED over LCD, I personally find the screen to be quite comfortable for viewing for long hours even in fast motion scenes.

The probably complain would be the weight of the smartphone. It is also slightly thicker probably due to the protruding camera system at the rear.

Performance wise, it is on par with most Snapdragon 865 based smartphones in the market as seen in the benchmarks tested.

In terms of features, the Mi 10T Pro is one of the most interesting phones we come across so far. The Mi 10T Pro comes with many interesting filters in the AI Skyscape 3.0. It allows you to transform skylines into different scenes. In addition, photo clones, long exposure modes — Moving crowd, neon trials, oil painting, light painting etc lets you create pictures that looks professional only with an expensive setup.

The camera system on the Mi 10T Pro chose the Samsung sensors instead of the Sony ones. The main camera is capable of 108 MP shoot but effectively it is a 27 MP sensor. Day pictures won’t differ a lot.

When it comes to digital zoom, the shots looks noisy beyond 5 times. As for night shots with night mode, the pictures taken are brighter with slight overexposure. The colours tend to be cooler. Surprisingly, the wide angle sensor also took amazingly good night shots. Usually, most smartphones do not put much emphasis on the wide angle camera. The 5MP macro also took very good close up shots in low light as we have to as close as 5 cm from the subject.

4K/60 fps video shots are pretty stable but I personally feel that the OnePlus 8T seems more stable. There is definitely room for improvement.

The Mi 10T Pro comes with a Dual SIM slot. If you are already using a eSIM, sorry, you have to switch back to a Physical SIM. The 5G modem supports most of the common bands used (mainly European bands). Thus, you are pretty safe that the phone will be able to run on most 5G networks provided that it is provisioned to use the 5G network there. Supported sub 6 bands n1/n3/n7/n8/n20/n28/n38/n41/n77/n78. mmwave bands are not supported. Bands N1 and N78 are deployed by the three telcos Singtel, M1 and Starhub. The Mi 10T Pro is also certified to work on M1 and Starhub as they are listed as smartphones being provisioned for 5G support.

Mi 10T Pro comes with a huge battery at 5000mAh. It also bundled in a 33W fast charge charger which could charge up to 100% within 1 hour. As for usage, I do not need to recharge it everyday. It should last up to at least 1.5 days if you use it for Social media, speedtests etc.

In Conclusion, the Mi 10T Pro has an excellent camera system which will probably be on par with Mi 10 Pro (DXOMark score of 128).

In terms of price and specifications, the Mi 10T Pro is definitely worth your every penny if you don’t mind the weight of it. The other smartphones costs at least a thousand dollars and may not even have such a good feature set. Most importantly, it is probably the first XIaomi 5G phone to be certified to work on M1 and Starhub.

Official price of Mi 10T Pro is SGD 749 (8 GB + 256 GB).

You can get it at S$699 at Qoo10.
