At the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. unveiled their most recent top-tier mobile platform, known as the Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3. This new release stands as a formidable force in on-device intelligence, offering premium-level performance and exceptional power efficiency.

Qualcomm has recently unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is crafted on a cutting-edge 4nm process and emphasizes advancements in AI, gaming, audio, and camera technologies. When it comes to performance, Gen 3 boasts a 30% speed boost and a 20% efficiency improvement over Gen 2. This impressive chip features an eight-core processor, including a Cortex-X4 prime core running at up to 3.3 GHz, five performance cores clocked at up to 3.2 GHz, and two efficiency cores at 2.3 GHz. It supports LPDDR5x memory with speeds up to 4800 MHz and up to 24 GB of memory. Additionally, it offers Wi-Fi 7 support up to 6 GHz, incorporating 802.11be, 802.11ax, 802.11ac, and 802.11a/bg/n. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is equipped with the X75 5G modem, supporting both sub-6 GHz and mmWave antennas.

AI is a focal point of this chipset, with an AI Engine that can run multi-modal generative AI models and large language models for speech recognition at up to 20 tokens per second. The chip also boasts the world’s fastest stable diffusion for image generation. Qualcomm’s Sensing Hug enhances AI assistant responses by securely accessing personal data like favorite activities, fitness level, and location.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 enhances camera capabilities with features like Semantic Segmentation for real-time image enhancement, Night Vision video for low-light scenes, object eraser for videos, Vlogger’s View for combined selfie and rear camera video, and Photo Expansion using generative AI to extend images. Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate the chip’s support for “console-defying” gaming with 240 fps on 240 Hz displays, the Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 for smoother gameplay, and Unreal Engine 5.2 support. The GPU inside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is 25% faster, 25% more power-efficient, and delivers 40% better Ray Tracing performance. Audiophiles can enjoy 24-bit 96 kHz lossless music over Bluetooth.

Qualcomm has announced that devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be available in the coming weeks. They have partnered with numerous brands, including Asus, Honor, iQOO, Meizu, Nio, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, realme, Redmi, RedMagic, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE
