It looks like the SIMBA should be ready to launch their 5G services in 2023.

In our pokemon style search for 5G areas, a couple of SIMBA subscribers have uncovered larger areas that has 5G enabled in December 2022. Previous areas covered were Little India, Bencoolen Street etc.

Some of these new areas include Tampinese, Bukit Batok, Tuas, Geylang, Bukit Timah ( based on purple regions).

Mapping was done using nPerf app active monitor (android only). If you are using a 5G capable smartphone from brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei and if it happens that your SIM card is provisioned to do so (the SIM cards should have been able to do so since the last August trial in selected areas).

The bands used are Band 40 (CA), Band 8, and n1.

Here is a list of smartphones that will work

  • Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G
  • Huawei P40 Pro 5G
  • Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G
  • POCO M4 Pro 5G

Unfortunately, Apple iPhone and Samsung will not be able to access as it the firmware blocks access to the SIMBA 5G NSA network (Write in to their support and ask them to enable).
