Update : 5G is detected from Bukit Panjang to Downtown station.
It appears that infrastructure upgrades are underway along the Downtown Line (DTL). I have noticed that 5G is now active in the vicinity of several stations, and with Hume Station already live when it was first opened, the remaining stations along the western stretch should follow shortly.
Looking ahead, as the network transitions from its current reliance on LTE 900 MHz (Band 8) within the tunnels, we can expect the integration of n1 and B40. This upgrade will be a welcome improvement, providing increased bandwidth and a more seamless connectivity experience for commuters traveling the full length of the line from Bukit Panjang to Expo.
If you are travelling along the DTL, you should be able to experience better speed at the stations or even in the tunnel. Do try it out and let us know in our Facebook page.
Below is a screen capture of my speedtest result right outside station control of Beauty World MRT. It was on 5G (NSA) with b40 anchoring n1. The downlink speed is 124 Mbps and uplink is at 21.8 Mbps. Ping time 18ms.
