Update :

SIMBA 10Gbps Broadband is available to selected residential addresses in:

East: Bedok, Eastwood, Eunos, Geylang, Macpherson, Joo Chiat, Katong, Kew Drive, and Upper East Coast

SIMBA Telecom has updated it’s site with more details of pricing structure of it’s 10 Gbps fibre broadband.

According to it’s website, the SIMBA 10Gbps Broadband is billed 90 days or 360 days in advance.

Upon registration, the payment is as follows:
One-time $99.00 for Netlink Trust (NLT) Service Activation Charge and cash and carry Optical Network Terminal (ONT) or;
One-time $138.00 for NLT Service Activation Charge and ONT with onsite installation cost by SIMBA.

For 90-Day Payment Plan:
$119.94 for two (2) 90-Day’s subscription fee in advance as the first billing cycle;
$89.97 for every subsequent one (1) 90-Day’s subscription fee.

For 360-Day Payment Plan:
$299.88 for one (1) 360 Day’s subscription fee in advance as the first billing cycle.

It is a pity that existing subscribers of 2.5 Gbps cannot upgrade to the 10 Gbps plan.

SIMBA 2.5Gbps Broadband is based on GPON technology which provides for speeds up to 2.5Gbps download and 1.25Gbps upload.

SIMBA 10Gbps Broadband is based on XGSPON technology which provides for symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 10Gbps. SIMBA manages our network with a flexible traffic data prioritisation system. This means that as long as the SIMBA network has the capacity, your BitTorrent can run as fast as possible that your computer and connection allow.

These equipment upgrades are recommended to get the most out of your SIMBA 10Gbps Broadband:

  • Ethernet Cables: Use a Cat6 or, preferably, Cat6a or Cat8 Ethernet cable for optimal performance
  • Compatible Router: Consider a Wi-Fi 7 router with Multi-Link Operation. Look for a ‘multi-gig’ label on the router box or specific mention of 10Gbps support
  • 10Gbps NICs: Your computer needs a built-in Network Interface Cards (NIC) that can handle 10Gbps speeds. In the absence of a built-in 10GbE port, try using a USB-C 10Gbps Ethernet adapter though performance may be slightly lower
  • Operating System: Most modern operating systems like Windows 10 (with updates) and macOS Monterey or later should support 10Gbps networking
  • Processor: A powerful CPU is recommended for activities that involve heavy data transfer, like large file uploads or running multiple bandwidth-intensive applications simultaneously
  • RAM: Having 16GB or more RAM can improve overall system performance and ensure smooth data handling
  • Wired connection: Wired LAN provides a faster and more reliable connection compared to a wireless one

There seems to be a NDP promo going on and the price is even lower at $19.99/30 days which translates to S$239.88.

SIMBA ought to streamline the calculations and bundle a 10 Gbps Fibre Broadband WIFI 7 Router together as a package deal. Many end users struggle with making informed choices. Additionally, SIMBA should include a public IP, especially for plans with higher uplink speeds. Access to home network hosting NAS, etc., might not be relevant if a CGNAT is used in the XGSPON plan.
