SIMBA Telecom (TUAS) release it’s FY24 results. It has achieved quite a milestone with 36% revenue increase over FY23. ARPU also increased to $9.68.

Subscriber base increased to over 1.053 million and it is still growing. Currently, it has around 4,000 fibre broadband subscribers in this year.

In the upcoming FY, it plans to expand coverage as it has received regulatory approval to deploy n8 (900MHz) together with B8 in a DSS configuration. It looks like we should be seeing 5G SA network soon.

We should be able to see better 5G SA coverage on the n1+n8 bands, which could enhance coverage, though speeds will remain constrained by the 20 MHz limitation in this setup. It will be exciting to see how things develop once SIMBA gets approval to implement DSS on the 2300 MHz band and rolls out a 40 MHz n40 5G SA network, potentially alongside n8 or n1. Before n40 is realised, i personally feel that we will see more of a 5G NSA network deploying b40+b40+n8 for better coverage+speed and a 5G SA based on n1+n8.

SIMBA has reported 4,000 subscribers for its fibre broadband service and is focusing on attracting more residential customers with its $29.99 per 30-day plan (on a 1-year contract). However, I believe SIMBA will need to address challenges related to coordination with NLT and improving technical support response times.

In recent months, SIMBA has shown progress by resolving initial routing issues and deploying an Ookla Speedtest server for users. Hopefully, they continue optimizing routes and introduce features like static IPv4 add-ons, VoWiFi, and landline support. Most importantly a technical support hotline should be established so that customers can call in and get it sorted out within a day.
