(Singapore, 4 February 2010) – Sony Singapore debuts its powerful new flagship mobile PC, the VAIO Z Series. Offering Intel’s latest Core™ i7[2] CPU, a Quad SSD[3] (solid-state drive), and not one but two graphics accelerators, the 13.1-inch notebook is the perfect mobile PC that delivers absolute performance and efficiency for busy business professionals wherever they go.

Enjoy incomparable power in entertainment in a mobile PC
Cleverly fused in the slim mobile notebook, is a very powerful CPU and SSD, as well as a desktop PC. Equipped with Intel’s top-of-the-line Core™ i7[4] CPU and innovative Quad SSD, the VAIO Z significantly minimizes the time users spend to complete tasks by performing six times faster than conventional HDD (hard disk drive) in transferring data.
Boasting not one but two graphics accelerators, the Z Series features external NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M GPU with CUDA™ Technology and internal Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD, enabling more realistic, high resolution game environments and high quality HD video playback. Additionally, the new Auto mode in the Dynamic Hybrid Graphics system helps to conserve battery life by automatically choosing the external GPU instead of the internal GPU when graphics performance is required, such as playing back video contents.
The VAIO Z Series sets a first for VAIO notebooks by featuring a 13.1-inch wide Full HD (1920 x 1080) LCD[5] display with LED backlight and Adobe RGB 96% coverage. This reproduces more true colors that even the likes of professional photographers can enjoy playback of HD content, anytime, anywhere. Also, the VAIO notebook’s Full HD screen increases the workspace by 1.5 times compared to the regular resolution of 1600 x 900 display, allowing users to view multiple windows at the same time and work more efficiently.
For those who work late at night or in dim environments, the VAIO Z Series features an innovative backlit keyboard with ambient light sensor. The intelligent feature detects the amount of light around, and lights up automatically when used in the dark to provide a comfortable typing experience anywhere. The ambient light sensor controls the brightness of the LCD display to offer users comfort in every environment.
Indulge in premium robust, lightweight design and luxurious comfort
Providing ultimate carrying comfort to users, the VAIO Z is carefully crafted using a one-piece milled aluminium plate and Hybrid Carbon. The one-piece of aluminium plate is used on the palm rest, and milled to maximize the notebook’s durability. On the other hand, the Hybrid Carbon is used on the top panel of the notebook, with the application of a special material in the layers inside to lighten the weight compared to normal carbon, without sacrificing robustness.
Stylishly cool, the VAIO Z Series is available in two colors, Black and Premium Carbon, where the lines of carbon fibre are more visible on the Premium Carbon to layer a luxurious finish.
Embrace one touch access convenience to entertainment and assistance
Presenting convenient new ways to enjoy photos, videos and music, the Z Series is incorporated with a one touch VAIO button that activates the VAIO-exclusive Media Gallery software. Also, the notebook is incorporated with new ASSIST button that offers instant access to VAIO Care, the VAIO original software which simplifies basic maintenance and troubleshooting tasks to keep the notebook in tiptop condition.
The new VAIO Z Series will be available in Singapore from March 2010.
