6 Conclusion

The Garmin ASUS M10 is not just your regular Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. It comes with a professional navigation software built into it. Garmin ASUS M10 merges the phone with the professional navigation tool into one small compact unit.

As a phone, it is able to do what normal Windows Mobile phone does. In addition to the software already installed, there is Windows Marketplace where you can enhance the capability of the phone with free apps.

Sometimes I wonder why Garmin ASUS chose to use a resistive screen for such a device when most makers are already building phones using capacitive screens. The only reason i can think of is for more accuracy to pinpoint smaller areas using a stylus. I still prefer a larger capacitive screen.

As the phone uses the Windows Mobile 6.5.3, performance can be sluggish at times when you have too many applications running at the same time. I wonder if Garmin ASUS will come out with a M10 based on Android, that would be way better for the end users.

As for navigation, we tested it on the road and the GPS is able to ‘grab’ the signal almost instantly. This is not the same for some other navigation tools on other brands of phones. Mounting it on the windscreen is easy but after 10-15mins of drive, the battery is exceptionally hot, probably due to the hot weather here.
