Today, ViewQwest launches it’s 10 Gigabit Symmetric Passive Optial Network (XGS PON) service, ViewQwest X in 3 flavours – 3 Gbps, 5 Gbps and 10 Gbps. This new service provides higher uplink speed of up to 10 Gbps as compared to GPON which halves the uplink speed. XGS PON promises ultra low latency and higher capacity and scalability compared to broadband based on GPON design.

The higher uplink speed will meet the demands of large files transfers for projects, cloud backups. It will be useful for 4k or 8K content creators to upload it to streaming platform in record time.

The basic plain vanilla service comes without a wifi router and you are free to pair it with your own WIFI 6 or WIFI 7 router of your choice. Alternatively, you can purchase the bundle plan with a eero Max 7 (WIFI 7) or a eero Pro 6e (WIFI 6e) by Amazon.

eero Max 7 takes advantage of Wi-Fi 7 features like wider channels (up to 320 MHz from 160 MHz in Wi-Fi 6E) and multi-link operation (MLO), which enables devices to connect on multiple bands at once

ViewQwest also offer all in one Unbiquti Dream Machine SE that provides granular controls over the access points at home.

If you are use a router such as the TP-Link BE900, you can choose to replace the traditional ONU with the SPF+ module to connect the fibre to the WIFI router.

In my own opinion, in terms of price and usage patterns of a normal user, the SIMBA 2.5 Gbps or the Whizcomm 2.5 Gbps plan should be good enough daily use. Unless you have tons of data to upload, there isn’t much difference as our home network will not be able to saturate even a 1 Gbps downlink or uplink. Furthermore, to get into the > 2.5 Gbps Fibre Broadband, you would need to purchase a new WIFI 7 (preferably) Wireless Router with 2.5, 5 or 10 Gbps WAN and/or LAN ports. These wireless routers don’t come cheap. Performance is still best with wired solution like what we did for our SIMBA setup.

If you are someone who are after the latest technology and want to be one of the first enjoying 10 Gbps fibre broadband (or 3, 5), the bundle solution seems to be quite a good deal.
