Google has released a new downloaded Google Map app for iPhone. This new app now comes with turn-by-turn navigation and “vector” maps which don’t need constant data downloads, just as the iPhone maker had previously wanted.

This new app comes 2.5 mths after Apple releases iOS 6 which removed the Google Maps and Youtube, replacing the Maps with Apple’s own map application.

The Apple maps have widespread criticism because they mislabelled locations, left off some public transport information and in some cases could even put people in life-threatening situations.

Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, was forced into a humiliating public apology, including recommending that dissatisfied users try rival products from Microsoft or Nokia.

You can now experience the new Google Map by downloading it off the App Store. The version is only available for the iPhone but it can also be installed on the iPad.
