Following the successful launch of the AMD Ryzen 7 series of processors, the 1800X, 1700X and 1700 for the high end market, AMD is ready to make available it’s Ryzen 5 series of processors for the mid range market with the Ryzen 5 series of processors.
This segment of processors will cater to the sub $300 CPU market which will make up one of the larger user base due to it’s price and performance.
The Ryzen 5 series consists of 4 processors – 2 processors with 6 cores 12 threads and another 2 with 4 cores 8 threads. All Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 processors are multiplier unlocked and you wouldn’t need to pay extra money to buy a K series processors just for an unlocked multiplier.
The 1600X has a TDP of 95W and the rest has a TDP of 65W.
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X and Ryzen 5 1600
The 1600X and the 1600 are the 2 models based on 6 cores/12 threads. The Ryzen 5 1600 runs at 3.2GHz/XFR at 3.6GHz while the Ryzen 5 1600X runs at 3.6GHz/XFR at 4.0GHz.
The Ryzen 5 1600X performance is tested to be 69% faster than a Core i5 7600K in Cinebench R15 multicore/multithread benchmark.
The other lower end models are the Ryzen 5 1500X and Ryzen 5 1400. Both runs on 4 cores 8 threads. The 1500X clocks at 3.5GHz/XFR at 3.7GHz while the cheaper Ryzen 5 1400 runs at 3.2GHz/XFR at 3.4GHz.
