AMD will launch 2 Raven Ridge APUs on 12 Feb 2018 – Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G
Just one year ago, AMD successfully launched the Ryzen series of discrete processors. In a few days time, AMD will now release it’s first APU based on Ryzen core with integrated graphics.
The specs for the first two Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 APUs have been announced – both sport quad-core CPUs, but the Ryzen 5 has eight threads. It also has three more Vega CUs too.
The Raven Ridge APUs will drop directly into the existing AM4 socket. You will need to update the BIOS to support the Ryzen 2000-series.
The Ryzen 5 2400G is going on sale for $169 in February, while the Ryzen 3 2200G is going to be retailing for $99 at launch.
AMD are targeting decent 1080p gaming performance from their standalone Ryzen 5 APU, with the Ryzen 3 chip having sufficient grunt to cope with lower-level, esports performance.
