Well i never really use a mac in my life but that might change in the near future. Apple just launched it’s cheapest macbook at only S$849.
Instead of using Apple’s powerful Apple M series processor, it uses the older Apple A18 Pro processor, the same processor on your iPhone.

As it was designed for mobile, it might not be good enough if you do a lot of video editing on it. Light computing tasks should work just fine for most though.
The MacBook Neo comes with 8GB of unified memory and 256GB of SSD storage in the base model, with an optional upgrade to 512GB. It is not like your conventional Windows notebook where you can easily upgrade the components.
The screen should is capable of 1 billion colours with it’s 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 × 1506 and brightness up to 500 nits.
Another noticeable limitation is the small number of ports. The MacBook Neo only includes:
Two USB-C ports
3.5 mm headphone jack
Unlike many conventional PC laptops, there are no USB-A ports, HDMI ports, or SD card slots built in. You will have to purchase USB hubs or adapters to expand on connectivity to more usb devices.
I think what I hate msot is that i can’t upgrade the RAM by myself.
As for the battery life, it can deliver up to 16 hours of video playback which is decent.
The laptop supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 and should work well with all devices.
The notebook is now on pre-ordering at S$849.
I might think it is a good entry level notebook for those who wants to try out the mac eco system. For someone who likes DIY and upgradability, this might not be your choice.
