Content creation is no walk in the park. Between scripting, figuring out the best angles, and doing live commentary, finding a quieter location to do voice commentary is a headache. . Bad voice quality kills a great video.. Seriously, you could be shooting in stunning 4K, but if your voice sounds muffled or noisy, viewers will switch off before you know it.
That’s why having a wireless, lightweight mic that can deliver clear voice in noisy environment is an investment. While most microphone looks ugly and out of place on your outfit, the The DJI Mic Mini 2 comes with snap-on colour covers so you can match it to your outfit colours.
What makes it so versatile is how many ways you can use it. It pairs natively with DJI’s Osmo Pocket and Action series via OSMOAudioDirectConnection, but you can also plug the USB transmitter into your smartphone or PC with no complicated setup whatsoever.
The transmitter weighs just 11gand comes with a detachable rotatable magnetic clip so you can rotate it around.. There are also three voice tone presets, two levels of noise cancellation, and automatic limiting to prevent audio clipping. On the receiver end, there are five gain adjustment levels to fine-tune your audio clarity.
The range is rather impressive too. With the standard receiver included in the 2 TX + 1 RX kit, you’re looking at up to 400 metres of stable transmission. Even with the mobile receiver, you still get a solid 300 metres.
Battery life is good with the transmitter runs for about 11.5 hours and the receiver for 10.5 hours. With the charging case extends that to 48 hours total, which charges it when not in use.

The DJI Mic Mini 2 is easy to pair and it works out of the box. It gets auto recognised by DJI Pocket 4 immediately. I’ve been using it with my Pocket 4 for 4K recording and with my PC for voiceovers, and both experiences were spot on. The PC setup was completely plug-and-play, no fuss at all. One handy shortcut worth knowing is that double-clicking the power button on the transmitter toggles noise cancellation on and off. If you want to switch between voice tone presets though, you’ll need to do that through the DJI MIMO app.
Audio quality in noisy environments is genuinely quite good. One thing I will say is that holding the transmitter gives you better voice pickup than clipping it to your shirt, something worth bearing in mind depending on how you shoot.
I quite liked the colour options, though I do wish the logo were a touch more subtle. That said, my bigger wish is that DJI could make the microphone itself even smaller and less obvious on camera. Small gripes, but there you go.
All in all, this is a mic I’d recommend to any creator who wants to sort out their audio without lugging around a heavy rig. Pricing and purchase links for various platforms are below and just a heads up that we do earn a small commission on sales.
