Benchmarks of the processor
As we are doing on going tests, we will provide some benchmark numbers with more to come in the coming days.
In the test, we put the FX 8150 (3.6GHz) to the test against the Phenom II X6 1100T (3.3GHz = 200×16.5) and an Intel Core i5 2500K running on Gigabyte Z68X-UD7-B3 at 100.3×33. 4GB (dual channel 2GB) of DDR3-1600 at C7-8-7-20-1T were used on the boards.
As we are only interested in the processing capabilities, we did not run any external graphics tests with it.
First, we look at SiSoft Sandra 2011 memory benchmark. From the results, it is very apparent that the new FX-8150 is still behind the Intel Core i5 2500K on the Z68 platform. A noticeable improvement of 36% is noted when we compare it against the hex core processor Phenon II X6 1100T.
In Processor Arithmetic which tests the GOPS of the processor. As we can see from the chart, the FX 8150 has scaled up from the 6 core series by up to 13 GOPS or 20% improvement. This is a remarkable improvement over the 6 core and definitely puts the Core i5 2500K way behind in this race.
With a better memory bandwidth and better processing capabilities, let’s check on the multimedia processing power.
The result is simply amazing. We all know that Intel Core i5 has always led in terms of multimedia capabilities. To our surprise, the FX 8150 has surpassed that with a whopping 190.5 Mpixel/s. There is an increase of 132% against the 6 core Phenom II X6.
Cinebench 11.5
In Cinebench 11.5 CPU tests, we again see the AMD FX-8150 leading the way by almost 12% against the Phenom II X6 1100T and 20.8% against the Core i5 2500K.
Summary
From the few benchmarks, we can see that this new 8 Core processor is a screamer. AMD has finally catch up in the multimedia processing speed which they have been lagging behind the Intel counterparts.
Will you get the AMD 8 Core processor ? Discuss and comment.
It has some real good numbers from the reading of the spec.
will be building another machine with this in mind for replacement.
