Google Pixel 8a Official Specs Leak: Everything We Know

Google is set to launch its next mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 8a, and with a slew of official renders and marketing materials having leaked, the device has lost all mystery. Now, the official spec sheet has also been leaked, leaving the only suspense the price.

According to the official spec sheet, the Pixel 8a will feature a 6.1-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from the 90Hz refresh rate on the previous Pixel 7a. The dimensions of the device are 152.1×72.7×8.9mm, and the weight has been reduced from 193.5 grams to 188 grams. RAM remains at 8GB, but it will be of the more advanced LPDDR5X type, and for the first time, two storage capacity versions will be offered: 128GB and 256GB. The processor will be the Tensor G3.

Camera specifications are the same as the previous generation, with the main camera including a 64-megapixel wide-angle lens with a 1/1.73-inch sensor. The ultrawide-angle lens is 13-megapixels and can shoot up to a 120-degree field of view. The front-facing camera is 13-megapixels.

In addition, the spec sheet lists six color options: Volcanic Black, Porcelain, Blue, Azure, Green, and Aloe. Previously, only four colors had been leaked: Green, Black, Ceramic, and Blue.

Pricing for the Pixel 8a has not yet been leaked, but it is expected to be similar to the Pixel 7a, which started at $449. The phone is expected to be released in the summer of 2024.

According to Japanese media outlet Sumahodigest, Japanese telecom carrier au has released a promotional poster for the Pixel 8a. The poster states that customers can save up to 16,500 yen on the device. While the price of the phone has not been revealed, the discount period runs from May 14 to June 30, suggesting that the Pixel 8a will be released in Japan on May 14. In addition, the 2024 Google I/O will be held at 1:00 AM on May 15 Singapore/Taiwan time.

Overall, the Pixel 8a looks like a promising mid-range smartphone with a number of upgrades over the Pixel 7a, including a 120Hz display, a more advanced processor, and more storage options. However, the price will be a key factor in determining whether or not it is a good value.
