A couple of days ago, we posted the news about a new firmware upgrade which allows 2D games to be up converted to 3D. According to LG, this new firmware is first pushed to European market.
It came as a surprise as we are able to get the update via WIFI on the LG Optimus 3D by selecting Settings->About Phone->Software update.
The updated firmware is has the same Android version, Baseband version, Kernel version, Build number as the previous version v10d. After updating it via WIFI, the phone rebooted and we see the new software version as LGP920-V10k-SEP-17-2011.
This new firmware added a new program 3D Game Converter. Click on the application and it will list all the compatible 2D games which can be up converted to 3D. Our list only has 2, which is Angry Birds and Angry Birds Rio.
We played the game in up converted mode. It does have the 3D feel. It adds another dimension of game playing on the LG Optimus 3D for 2D games.
The new firmware resolved the WIFI tethering feature. We are now running on WIFI tethering from the LG Optimus 3D.
The next update that everyone would be waiting for is the 2D->3D for video playback and also Android 2.3.
