M1 expands and upgrades 3G network
To further enhance coverage and network performance

SINGAPORE, 27 May 2013 – M1 Limited (M1) today announced the appointment of network vendor Huawei, to further expand and upgrade its existing 3G network, at the value of up to S$11 million.

The islandwide expansion of M1’s existing 3G network operating on the 2100MHz spectrum band includes the rollout of additional base stations, and a nationwide optimisation programme of the 3G network, to improve call connectivity and customer experience.

M1’s latest investments complement the recent investment to roll out a 3G radio network on the 900MHz spectrum band and modernise its core network. This will ensure the provision of comprehensive 3G network coverage to deliver better performance for customers and meet their growing data usage.

The network expansion work is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2013.
