M1 is pushing for the limits by offering the blazing fast 10Gbps fibre broadband in Singapore to residential customers.

The service will be priced at $189 per month + charges for Termination point of $235.40 and ONT activation of $58.85. It will be bundled with a 4G Data per mth SIM card.

If you are going for the blazing speeds, your home network might not be able to support that. e.g. your network cabling, wireless internet and most importantly your network card and PC or MAC.

So these are some things you ought to take note

  1. To support 10Gbps speeds, you may require the following:
  2. Optical Network Terminal (ONT) provided and installed by M1
  • Cat 6/6a/7 LAN cable
  • Devices with the below requirements
  1. Computer Processor
  1. Core i7
  1. RAM
  1. 16GB
  1. Storage
  1. PCIe SSD
  1. Operating System
  1. Windows 7/8.1/10 or Mac OS X
  1. Wired Networking
  1. Motherboards with 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) port
    – 10GBASE-T Network Interface Card
    – For Mac: Thunderbolt 2 to 10 Gb/s Ethernet Adapter

The offer is as follows

Contract Duration

24 months

Comes With

  • $100 off any handset purchase when you sign-up/re-contract a mobile data-bundled plan at the same time
  • FREE 24 mths 300Mbps Mobile Broadband (1GB)
  • FREE ONT Activation (worth $58.85)
  • FREE 3 months’ subscription to Internet Security
  • FREE TP waiver (up to $235.40)
  1. How can I enjoy the maximum 10Gbps speeds with my computer/laptop?
You must connect your computer/laptop directly to the 10Gbps port (port 5) of the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) with a Cat 6/6a/7 LAN cable.
  2. Can I connect wirelessly to the Fibre 10Gbps ONT?
To create a wireless network, you can connect a wireless router to the active port of the ONT (Port 5). As there are currently no residential wireless routers in the market supporting wireless speeds of up to 10Gbps, the maximum achievable speed will be dependent on your choice of router. Nonetheless, we expect vendors to roll out 10Gbps routers in the near future.
  3. Can I enjoy free home fixed voice service with the new 10Gbps plan?
As the only ONT in the market supporting 10Gbps does not come with a voice port, M1’s digital voice service is unavailable to customers who sign-up or re-contract on the 10Gbps plan.
    1. What download speeds can I expect for the 10Gbps plan?
You can expect download speeds of up to 8.1Gbps*. However, many factors affect the download speed and delivery of internet traffic. Some of these are:
    2. The broadband device/equipment used
  • The load on the local/international websites (the number of other people online & network associated traffic)
  • Your computer network configurations and software you’re running, such as Outlook or Internet Explorer
  • Your type of internet connection (wired LAN/ Wireless connection)
  • The number of people your broadband connection is shared with
  • Viruses, spy-wares and file-sharing software
  1. *Measured using a bandwidth tester
  2. If I am an existing fibre broadband customer and wish to upgrade my speed or recontract to 10Gbps, can I do so?
For existing fibre broadband customers who wish to take up the 10Gbps, we will require you to sign up for a new line on the 2nd port of your Termination Point (TP) while your existing line remains active. This is to ensure that you can continue to use our fibre service without any lengthy disruption.Once the new 10Gbps line has been activated, you can call in to terminate the existing service. However please note that early termination charges may apply if you still have an existing contract.
