Microsoft’s Windows 7 has landed with on some users’ systems, causing concern with black screen of death.

This error occurs after logging in to the system with a black screen of death. The system is unresponsive and the only way is to restart the system.

This problem seems to affect not only Win 7, it also affects older Win XP, VISTA, NT, 2000. This all happpended after applying the latest patch on Nov 10.  The patch seemed to have made modifications to the Access Control List (ACL) entries in the registry.

A British security firm, Prevx, says that “millions” of people may be impacted.  The firm has released a fix that will fix some of these systems. After hours posting the 3rd party fix, it claims that the fix might not solve the problem.
