NEC, famous for it’s NEC USB 3.0 chipset found on most Intel and AMD motherboards will face a stiff challenge from other vendors in the coming months.
It is said that many manufacturers are looking for alternative solutions that offers a better price and performance compared to the NEC USB 3.0 chips.
Although these solutions may not already been certified by USB-IF, they promised performance of up to 10%-20% higher than the NEC counterparts.
We should see more competition in the near future. AMD and INTEL has yet to announce any support for USB 3.0 within it’s chipsets.
