In South Korea, a tragic incident occurred where a man lost his life due to a robot’s malfunction. The individual, a worker at a robotics company, was examining the sensor operations of the machine at an agricultural produce distribution center. Unfortunately, the robot, responsible for moving boxes of bell peppers, failed to recognize the man and mistakenly identified him as one of the boxes it was meant to handle.
As a result, the robotic arm pushed the man against a conveyor belt, causing severe injuries to his face and chest. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he passed away. This unfortunate event, reported by the Yonhap news agency, shed light on the dangers associated with industrial robots. Sadly, this incident echoes another accident in which a man in his 50s faced severe injuries due to a robot in a different industrial setting back in March.
