Sony’s New Flagship Xperia 1 VI Set to Debut Today
Sony’s new flagship Xperia 1 VI is scheduled to be officially unveiled today at 3 PM. However, just as we are counting down to the new device’s release, INSIDER SONY has leaked what appears to be an internal Sony briefing on X (formerly Twitter), revealing the complete specifications of the Xperia 1 VI. The only detail yet to be confirmed is the retail price.
Dropping Two Classic Features for FHD+ and 19.5:9 Screen Ratio
The Sony Xperia 1 VI abandons two classic design elements. First, it replaces the previous 21:9 screen ratio with a 19.5:9 ratio, making the device appear wider and shorter. Secondly, it drops the 4K display in favor of a Full HD+ resolution screen but incorporates LTPO and “Powered by BRAVIA” technology. This new screen features a 1~120Hz refresh rate and the brightest display in the series, introducing a new Sunlight Vision mode.
Camera Upgrades: 85-170mm Zoom and Optimized Software Interface
The Xperia 1 VI features a triple rear camera setup, including a 48MP 24mm wide-angle lens with an Exmor T stacked sensor structure, providing 2x lossless zoom, and a 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens. The telephoto lens has been upgraded to 85-170mm. Additionally, the device includes a new macro photography function and Sony’s DSLR posture prediction autofocus technology, enhancing focus speed with 399 focus points. The software interface has also been optimized, integrating multiple professional apps built into Xperia phones and enlarging the photo shutter button for more intuitive operation.
Retaining 3.5mm Headphone Jack and Introducing VC Heat Dissipation Plate
The Xperia 1 VI retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and supports LDAC, Hi-Res Audio, and 360 Reality Audio specifications. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a 5,000mAh battery, marking the first time it features a Vapor Chamber heat dissipation plate to enhance thermal management. The stereo speakers have also been upgraded. According to the leaked information, the Sony Xperia 1 VI will be available in black, silver-white, dark green, and red, with the red variant possibly being a special edition not available outside Japan.
