In response to the Government’s initiative to encourage network sharing among industry players and accelerate improved connectivity in line with the nation’s digital ambitions, TM and Maxis have joined forces. As part of this collaboration, TM will gain access to Maxis’ 4G Multi Operator Core Network (MOCN), as well as 4G and 2G Domestic Roaming Services, to strengthen the digital ecosystem of the country through industry collaboration.

To expand its 4G coverage nationwide and enhance the reach of Unifi Mobile, TM will leverage Maxis’ radio access network (RAN) infrastructure by implementing the MOCN mechanism. By sharing the same RAN, TM aims to extend its 4G coverage to encompass the entire country, with a focus on achieving a population coverage of over 95% for Unifi Mobile.

Maxis will contribute approximately 6,800 sites for 4G MOCN and domestic roaming (DR) services, along with an additional 10,000 sites for 2G DR. This significant infrastructure support will greatly benefit subscribers in both rural and urban areas across Malaysia.

The partnership was officially announced during a ceremony held at TM’s headquarters in Cyberjaya, where Maxis’ Chief Executive Officer, Goh Seow Eng, and TM’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Imri Mokhtar, represented their respective companies. This collaboration signifies the shared commitment of TM and Maxis to drive innovation, enhance customer experiences, and contribute to the advancement of Malaysia’s digital landscape.
