User Interface and functionalities of the Motorola MILESTONE™ (Android™ 2.1)
Bluetooth 30 Mar 2010

In this video, we take a look at the user interface of the Milestone. As this phoen comes preloaded with Android 2.1, you would have noticed the silght differences compared to the earlier versions available on other brands/models.

Unlocking the phone brings you to the desktop where there are 5 pages you can scroll left to right with configurable widgets and custom wall papers. It can be increased to 9 pages. We first take a look at the marketplace where applications can be downloaded and installed off the fly.

We take a look at the browser loading various websites like BBC. Using the multi touch feature, we are able to pinch and zoom into the web page with ease just like we do on the iPhone.

Google maps can be accessed from the desktop icon. Again you can zoom in and access street view (whenever applicable). you can tie in Google Latitude to see where your friends are located.

Next, we slide out the options and see the various options like Crystal talk, volume controls for ring tones etc. You can also set the haptic, orientation, brightness (auto) of the screen display.

Customise your 9 pages of desktop with widgets, live wall papers to give it a unique look. You can put weather widget, news widgets or live wallpapers easier by just dragging them onto the desktop, you can also drag them from page to page as demonstrated in the video.

We also take a  look at Facebook and Motorola phone portal. The phone portal is something unique as it allows your PC connected via the same WIFI network to remotely access your phone via 192.168.0.8:8080. You will able to access the images, SMS and control it via your PC.
