Singapore – Following a successful early-access trial late last year, YouTrip has officially integrated its new eSIM service into its digital wallet app. Known for its multi-currency features, the fintech player is now taking a direct shot at the travel roaming market, offering data coverage in over 140 countries with rates starting as low as S$1.
Low-Cost Roaming Integrated In-App
Unlike traditional roaming or standalone travel SIMs, the YouTrip eSIM is managed entirely under the “Travel” tab in the existing app. This allows users to purchase, activate, and track data usage in real-time—a move aimed at preventing “bill shock” for travelers who often lose track of their roaming consumption.
Price Comparison: Saving Up to 72%
YouTrip is positioning itself as a price leader in the eSIM space. According to their latest benchmarks, a 5GB Japan-bound data plan on YouTrip is significantly cheaper than competitors, with savings reaching up to 72%.

- Top Destinations: Early adoption peaks include China, Japan, and Malaysia.
- JB Day Trips: One in six early users purchased Malaysia-specific eSIMs for short trips to Johor Bahru.
- Multi-Country Support: High demand was also noted for APAC and Europe regional bundles during the December peak.
Launch Promos: 50% Cashback and Giveaway
To kick off the official rollout, YouTrip has announced two major incentives:
- 50% Cashback: From 28 January to 10 February 2026, the first 2,500 users who buy and activate their first eSIM via the app will get 50% cashback (capped at S$5).
- Instagram Giveaway: From 29 January to 5 February 2026, users can play an interactive game on YouTrip’s Instagram. The top five on the leaderboard can win up to S$500 in YouTrip credits.

- Since YouTrip’s SmartExchange™ feature isn’t enabled for eSIM purchases, make sure you have enough balance in your SGD wallet to complete the transaction.
- Data-Only: The eSIM plans are typically Data-only, meaning calls and SMS are not included.
Once purchased, your eSIM will appear in your app along with installation instructions and plan validity details. You can install it before your trip, and it will activate automatically when you arrive and connect to a supported network.
To buy an eSIM for your next trip, follow the steps below:
1) Tap the ‘Travel’ tab at the bottom of the screen.
2) Tap on the ‘eSIM’ option, or select one of the featured popular plans.
3) Select the country or regional bundle plan you wish to purchase an eSIM for.
4) Select and review the data package by considering how much data (in GB) and validity period (in days) suit your travel needs.
5) Once you have reviewed and confirmed the details, ‘Slide to pay’ to purchase your eSIM.
