HTC Flyer launched in Singapore
Bluetooth 26 Apr 2011

HTC Singapore launched the highly anticipated tablet at the Art House in Singapore. The crowd gathered around 3.30pm and the event started with an introduction of the features of the tablet.

The first thing we noticed about the Grey-white finished tablet is pretty lightweight. In fact it weighs only 415 grams with the battery within. On powered on, you will be greeted with the familiar HTC design. HTC Sense is also overlaid on top of the Android OS making it easy to access the HTC apps e.g. Weather forecast. The HTC Flyer’s 7-inch display and super fast 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM 8255 processor is pretty responsive I would say, making it perfect for watching video clips. Adobe Flash, multi window pinch and zoom are supported. It has a dimension of 195.4mm (L) X 122mm (W) X 13.2mm (T) which is similar to a paper back book.

HTC Flyer does differ from most other Android tablet design. It incorporates a magic pen. In fact, in most of the demonstrations, HTC emphasied a lot on this feature. The pen transforms anything. Draw, paint, write, and even retouch pictures on your tablet with ease. You can also use it as a highlighter for the reader, collating all your highlights when you’re done. Link audio to the notes you take for work and even add voic eover to a storybook you’re drawing up at home.

Although SKYPE is not preloaded into the unit, the Flyer comes with two cameras, one front and one back. you can use that to do video conferencing with ease.

HTC Flyer will be available through mobile operators and authorized retailers at a suggested retail price of S$1068 from May 2011 onwards.

In the following pages are videos of the device in detail.
