M1 Limited (M1) announced today it has achieved best 4G throughput speeds and lowest latency in the latest Info-communications Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) IMconnected half-yearly interactive report, published for the period January to June 2018.

In the latest published results, M1 achieved the fastest 4G peak throughput speed of 262.5 Mbps and fastest 4G median throughput speed of 43.2 Mbps in Singapore. In addition, M1 attained the lowest 4G latency of 47.7 milliseconds, which measures the responsiveness of the data network. This translates to less lag time and better network experience for applications such as online gaming or enterprise cloud-based tools.

In the previous IMconnected reports, published for the period from January to December 2017, M1 also led in delivering the fastest 4G peak throughput speed and lowest latency for its 4G mobile network.

“The results demonstrate M1’s strong commitment to consistently deliver the best mobile experience to our customers. As a leader in network innovation, we continuously invest to push the limits in network speeds, latency and coverage. In the coming months, we look forward to piloting more 5G trials and rolling out network technology enhancements to cater to our customers’ growing needs for data in the digital era,” said Mr Denis Seek, Chief Technical Officer, M1.

The results were collated through information collected by IMDA’s IMconnected mobile application, which utilises voluntary crowdsourcing to understand the experience of mobile broadband users. It gathers usage experience anonymously from users’ mobile phones, including aspects such as broadband speed and latency on mobile cellular networks.
