According to Nikkei Asian Review, Apple is considering moving production of it’s iPhone back to the United States. Currently, Apple products are manufactured in China by contract Taiwanese manufacturers Foxconn and Pegatron.
According to the report, Foxconn complied while Pegatron declined to formulate such a plan due to cost concerns.
This news comes following Donald Trump’s victory in Presidential Election which has been vocal about US companies should manufacture their own products and create jobs for the locals.
He also mentinoed about slapping a 45% import tax tariff on Chinese goods. Apple and it’s manufacturers would have to consider carefully if they will move. Either way, iPhones will surely be more expensive in future as US dollar is appreciating against other currencies as a whole.
