Conclusion
Within a month, AMD has launched these new processors based on the new architecture. Performance has shown that the AMD Ryzen 5 series processors have the upper hand in terms of not just in terms of performance but in terms of price too.
It is refreshing to know that AMD has been keeping up with the motherboard manufacturers to update it’s BIOS codes to fix up the early ram compatibility issues due to tight timing parameters.
In terms of overclocking, the processors seemed to have a huge barrier at 4 GHz. So far, air cooled processors seemed to be only capable of running up to 4 GHz which also happens to be the rated XFR clock speed. Maybe you might get lucky with water cooling system but how relevant is that for a home user, i seriously wonder.
The Ryzen 5 1500X also seem to have a bigger potential for overclocking as it only has 4 Cores. The default is 3.5 GHz and we can easily push it up to 3.9 GHz (benchmarks complete run). In fact, it can POST stable and enter Windows at 4.1 GHz but remains unstable not matter what voltage or heatsink we threw at it.
So if you intend to build a new PC, be it for gaming or content creation, the AMD Ryzen 5 and 7 series are definitely worth your every single penny.
The pricing is also comparatively lower to it’s Intel equivalent. Free shipping if you buy on Amazon*
