If you are looking for an affordable 4G phone to replace your aging phone, the Redmi 10 might be worth considering.

Bearing a 6.5″ FHD Dot play at 2400×1080 and up to 90 Hz refresh rate with AdaptiveDisplay, scrolling has become smoother than before. It also comes with Dual speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Although it is slimer at 8.92mm, it does weigh at 181 grams. That could be due to the 5000mAh battery built in that can be charged up with 18W fast charging. It supports 9W reverse wired charging. A 22.5W charger comes with the package.

Entry level yet it is big on it’s cameras, it has 4 cameras

  • 50 MP f/1.8 back camera
  • 8 MP f/2.2 back wide angle camera 120 degrees
  • 2 MP macro f/2.4 back camera
  • 8 MP f/2.0 camera

Although it isn’t paired with a Snapdragon, performance of the Mediatek Helio G88 is comparable Snapdragon 660.

As the phone doesn’t come with Optical stabilisation, 1080p video tends to be shakier than phones which employs OIS. the picture quality in terms of colours and sharpness are not lacking. Perhaps adding a gimbal will help.

The Redmi series has come a long way and offers the best value for money smartphones for the masses. Redmi 10 is not exception.

Performance wise, it is clearly usable once you have set up everyone. The initial setup took quite a while to complete. The 50 MP camera took some amazing shots that you wouldn’t notice unless you look at the details in a full zoom out of the photo you took. As for night mode, it doesn’t seem to help much in a dark environment.

For the price of S$249, this 4G phone is affordable but if you are looking at 5G the POCO m3 pro 5G is another good alternative.

Pros :

  • 50 MP camera
  • 90 Hz refresh rate
  • FM Radio

Cons:

  • No OIS
