We unexpectedly picked up 5G NR Band n8 activity along the Tanglin Road–Somerset Road corridor. The airwaves showed ARFCN 188910—definitively Band 8—and the network identified itself as 5G SA (stand‑alone).

It’s not yet clear whether n8 is being aggregated with n1 or earmarked for future NSA use, but its 10 MHz slice in the 900 MHz range should give shoppers nearby lower‑latency connections when paired with the existing B40 anchor band.
In the longer run, deploying n8 could enable a four‑carrier‑aggregation setup, boosting peak speeds and widening 5G coverage thanks to the band’s excellent propagation characteristics.
It would be better if the 40 MHz of b40 band can be refarmed as a n40 band. This would give it a speed boost as SIMBA is the only Singapore telco that lacks a 3.5 GHz n78 100 MHz band.
