We were surprised to see this ad pop up on Facebook just a few days ago. The plan seems quite similar to the existing senior plan. However, detailed information is scarce, and there doesn’t appear to be a sign-up page for this data-only plan yet.

This S$5 plan is likely to shake up the market significantly, delivering a major blow to other telcos that have recently lowered their plans below the S$8 mark, offering generous data roaming options.

Registration is now opened. Upon registration, you will be given a 8 digit service ID (for you to login to the app to purchase more credits etc). There are no bundled voice minutes nor SMS. Calls can only be made via SKYPE, WhatsApp, Facebook messenger etc.

All the roaming options available are similar to their normal voice plan.

    Our Data-Only Plan gives you access to mobile data in Singapore and abroad. There’s no talktime or SMS, which is ideal for devices that primarily need data connections. You can opt for physical SIM or eSIM.

    For $5 every 30 days, you will get 300GB in Singapore and 3GB roaming to 60+ countries listed in Group A.
  3. How can I purchase this Data-Only plan?
    Easy sign up via Singpass online and choose either eSIM or physical SIM.
  4. Will I have a mobile number for this Data-Only plan?
    Each Data-Only plan will be given an 8-digit service ID. This ID is for you to manage, recharge or renew your plan.
  5. Can I make calls or send texts with this Data-Only plan?
    This is a Data-Only plan which doesn’t support traditional calls or SMS. However, you can use apps like WhatsApp, Wechat, Telegram, Signal, Messenger, Zoom or Skype to make voice/video calls, and send messages.
  6. Where can I recharge my SIMBA Wallet?
    Recharge of your Data-Only plan is available online, SIMBA App and SIMBA Dealers. Recharge using your 8-digit service ID.
  7. How do I renew my Data-Only plan?
    Just like our mobile plans, this plan automatically renews every 30 days, via credits in your main balance or your registered credit card. Each renewal refreshes your data entitlements for 30 days.
  8. How do I check my data usage?
    You can check your data usage through my SIMBA App or send SMS 2 to 1218.
  9. What happens if I exceed the 300GB local or 3GB roaming data entitlements?
    You can continue data access via Pay-Per-Use rates, local at $1.00/GB and roaming from $4.00/GB. Simply recharge your SIMBA Wallet to enjoy seamless connectivity.
  10. How do I apply for roaming?
    SIMBA Roaming connection is seamless. No application is required. This Data-Only plan comes with 3GB data roaming to 60+ countries listed in Group A.   11. Can I share this Data-Only plan with my friends and family?

  12. I am an existing SIMBA mobile customer. Can I change my existing mobile plan to this Data-Only plan?
    Change of plan is not supported for this Data-Only plan.
  13. Can I port-in to SIMBA Data-Only plan?
    Mobile number portability is not supported for this Data-Only plan.
